Municipal Reports & Observations:

February 10, 2026:

 

January 6, 2026:

  • Clinton Twp. - Kanalos: Kiwanis will be holding their annual Big Game Dinner at Fern Hill on January 30th.
  • Ira Twp. – Reardon: is developing an accessible tree house and walking/bike trail.
  • Lenox - Chesney:  is now a Chartered Twp.
  • Macomb Twp. – Shaheen:  Nothing new at this time, but there will a lot of items soon.
  • New Baltimore - Reardona new European style restaurant will open this spring. Lion's Club is having their annual Winter Fest February 20-22.
  • Richmond - Jaglois: will have their ice festival January 29-31; with an ice cream eating contest on 1/31. Richmond currently has no parking on their streets this winter. Richmond also has free COVID testing for their residents.
  • St. Clair Co. - Jaglois:​ St Clair County a company was fined and now is cleaning up the river and land from waste material. St Clair County has also reallocated money to help veterans. Mr. Zeff, which has a restaurant in St. Clair Shores, is now taking over the Habor Club in Algonac.  Jaglois also informed us that if a surviving spouse of a veteran moves to a new home, they can keep their property tax exemption status at the new home.
  • St. Clair Shores - Dery:  Sewer work continues on Jefferson between 9 Mile Rd. and Stephens. Also, the social district still has their stores lit for Christmas. The Aqua Freeze will be at Blossom Heath on January 23 and 24th.
  • Sterling Heights - Olejniczak:  has received federal funding to repair Clinton River Rd. from Van Dyke to Hayes. Metro Parkway will get new lights this spring; 14 Mile Rd. from Van Dyke to Maple will have the road resurfaced.
  • Washington Twp. – Chesney:  Is being considered for a new Data Center on 320 acres in Washington Twp. This is 1 of 5 different locations that are being looked at in the area for a data center.  
  • WCR Lakepointe - Kanalos: is continuing with the Expresso Yourself meetings; the next one is January 20th from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at Nino Salvaggio on Hall Rd. White Star Moving Company is sponsoring this.
  • YPA - Moilanen:  on March 24th our YPN will have a tax class with 4-5 Professionals present to answer questions at Nino Salvaggio’s in Clinton Twp

 

November 18, 2025:

  1. Commercial Real Estate, Harrison Twp. Brandt-Alves reported on the Housing summit she attended in Macomb County.  Many of the non-profits that deal in the housing of the homeless were there to discuss the need of affordable housing.  Right now, a lot of funding is going into redeveloping Eastpointe.  It was suggested we reach out to the officials in Eastpointe to see how and where they are getting funding.
  2. Affiliate Com, Center Line, Chesterfield, Mt. Clemens - Chambers:  stated the revitalization project in Mt. Clemens is moving forward.  Laura Kropp was re-elected Mayor and is a huge supporter of the project.
  3. Romeo/Armada, Shelby, Roseville​ - Conley:  talked about $1.5 million grant that Shelby Twp. received for an activity center.
  4. St. Clair Shores​ Dery :  discussed that the social district stores are all lit up for Christmas, just like Rochester.
  5. St. Clair Co. & Richmond - Jaglois:  discussed the church in Richmond that will be giving out free Thanksgiving dinners.  In St Clair County there was a big drug raid at the Blue Water Bridge.  She also talked about the community theaters in St. Clair and Marine City that put on great plays.
  6. WCR​ Kanalos :  reminded us of the WCR Lake Point Annual Christmas luncheon and Auction is December 5th at the Mirage, tickets are on sale.
  7. YPA​ - Moilanen:  talked about the YP fund raiser at Total Sports which is supporting Reunite the Fight.
  8. Sterling Heights​ Olejniczak:  discussed the tree lighting in Sterling Heights on December 6th at Dodge Park at 5:30 pm.  There will also be music at the Sterling Heights community center every Thursday night. 
  9. Macomb Twp.​ - Shaheen:  informed us of a new subdivision being developed on Card Rd between 23- and 24-Mile Rds.  MI Homes is the builder, and pricing starts in the low $500,000’s.

October 14, 2025:

  • Habitat for Humanity Macomb - Pat Dery - They will be holding their fundraising Gala on November 21 at Zuccaro’s in Chesterfield from 6-10 pm.  Cost is $150.00
  • Macomb County - Lori Jaglois reported on Macomb County's program on domestic violence.   St Clair County just busted a trafficking ring.   Richmond is having a scarecrow contest, stop by and see their scarecrow.
  • Macomb Twp. - George Shaheen - new construction has slowed down.  There is a new development between 18 and 19 Mile Rd off Ryan Rd.  Homes are starting at mid $600,000 to $1.2 million.
  • New Baltimore - Alison Reardon reported the road construction thru town is completed.  They have a mayoral race going on.  There are 2 Farmer Markets left for the year.  Inventory of homes in New Baltimore is down.  The New Baltimore Lions Club is having their first Octoberfest at the VFW hall on 23 Mile Rd. on October 18th from 4-11 pm.   New Baltimore Lions were named non-profit of the year. 
  • Romeo - Scott Chambers reported that Romeo is having a Witches and Warlock party October 25th from 1-5 pm.  They are looking to break a world record of the most witches in one place.  You must have a broom to be a witch.  Mark Hackel will declare Romeo Halloween town.
  • Saint Clair Shores  - Pat Dery - City Council elections are underway with some new people running.  The social district at 9 Mile and Mack still goes on in October.
  • Sterling Heights - Mary Rose Olejniczak – Sterling Heights was named the top 5 safest city in the state.
  • WCR Lake Pointe – Franny Kanalos - Their Past Presidents Lunch and Installation is November 5th.    Their Christmas Luncheon is at the Mirage on December 5th.
