Discover the Living Stories of the Great Migration in Detroit. A Special Presentation by the GPBR Fair Housing & DEI Committee.
Over six transformative decades, nearly six million Black Southerners left the rural South, journeying north and reshaping urban America forever. Detroit became one of the most powerful destinations, drawing families in search of opportunity, dignity, and freedom from oppression.
Join us for an intimate StoryLiving Presentation featuring the personal journeys of three remarkable Detroit women whose families migrated during key waves of the Great Migration:
- The 1920s: Pioneering new lives amid booming auto industry opportunities
- The 1940s: Navigating wartime shifts and building resilient communities
- The 1960s: Facing urban change and civil rights momentum
These powerful, first-person-inspired stories reveal how migration shaped their identities, families, and lasting contributions to Detroit's vibrant history.
Hosted by the GPBR Fair Housing, DEI Committee, in partnership with DAR, DABOR and ETAR.
Powered by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Fair Housing initiatives.
